When we arrived at this property, the first thing we noticed was the brick pathway leading to the front door was totally uneven and broken by the roots of a nearby tree. Naturally, addressing this was the first priority of the homeowners. Along with a low-maintenance and drought-tolerant planting, we took special care to make sure the new pathway would not succumb to the same fate as the first by altering the route and installing a root barrier. The finished product features a soothing palette of cool colors to match the existing blue of the house and new walkway. We added fun pops of contrasting pinks and a wide variety of evergreen texture for year-round interest. Path lights highlight the new walkway and a row of stones along the sidewalk echo the home's style while providing a buffer between the garden and neighborhood dogs.
